جاءت هذه الدراسة لتوضيح دور إيران في منطقة الخليج العربي التي بقيت تتأرجح بين التقارب والتنافر بسبب السياسة الإيرانية، وإلى جانب ذلك شخصت هذه الدراسة تدخل الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية التي استثمرت ظروف العلاقات بين إيران ودول الخليج العربي، مما عزز فرص عدم التقارب الإيراني الخليجي، وساهمت في إحداث تغييرات مهمة في البيئة الإقليمية كأساس لذلك التوتر التي مرت خلالها العلاقات، ومن أجل تعميق الدراسة والاطلالة على الجذور الأساسية لهذه العلاقة المضطربة بين إيران ودول الخليج العربي، فكان لا بد من ابراز تأثيرات الحرب العراقية الإيرانية، مروراً بالغزو العراقي للكويت، وموقف دول الخليج العربي من الملف النووي الإيراني وصولاً إلى المواقف المتباينة بين إيران ودول الخليج العربي من الثورات الشعبية العربية، وإبراز أثارها في العلاقة المتوترة بين الجانبين وانتهاءً بموقف المملكة السعودية من الثورة السورية.

This study aims at investigating the role of Iran in the Persian Gulf region, which remained swings between convergence and discord because of Iranian policy. In addition to that, this study diagnoses the interference of the United States of America which has invested the relations between Iran and the Gulf region. It also has enhanced the opportunities for non-Arab Iranian rapprochement Gulf events and contributed to the significant changes in the environment as a basis for regional tensions which have passed during which troubled relations between Iran and the Gulf Arab was not to be highlighted the impacts of Iranian Iraqi war, passing by the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the Gulf states of the Iranian nuclear file to the divergent positions between Iran and the Gulf of Arab popular revolutions Arab effects and highlight the tense relationship between the two sides and the end of the Saudi Arabia position of Syria.
