Abstract

 

The role of visionary leadership in determining strategic orientation
"An applied Study on public institutions in the State of Qatar"

This study aimed to identify the role of leadership with vision in determining the strategic orientation in public institutions in the State of Qatar, and to achieve the objectives of the study a questionnaire was developed for the purpose of collecting data, the sample consisted of (181) subjects, and used the package Statistics for Social Sciences (SPSS.16) resolution data for the analysis, the study found a set of results was mainly:

1. That the perceptions of employees in the in public institutions in the State of Qatar toward visionary leadership were at moderate, and perceptions toward the strategic direction was a high level.

2. There is an impact of visionary leadership dimensions in strategic direction which explains (65.7%) of variation in the dependent variable (strategic direction).

3. There are significant differences (α ≤ 0.05) in the perceptions of visionary leadership attributed to (academic qualification, experience) variables, and significant differences exist (α ≤ 0.05) in the perceptions of strategic direction attributed to (cademic qualification, and experience ) variables.

The study recommended the need to work on creating an organizational culture that promotes the dimensions of visionary leadership in the regulatory environment, and improve the strategies to higher levels desired, through the development of skills of workers and provide strategic vision and clear of the public institutions in the State of Qatar and its objectives, because of their impact in improving the strategic direction.
