Abstract

The Role of Governance Characteristics in the promotion of Business Process Reengineering in government departments in Hail, Saudi Arabia: An Empirical Study

The study aimed at recognizing the role of governance characteristics in the promotion of business process reengineering in government departments in Hail, Saudi Arabia. To achieve the aim of the study a questionnaire was developed and distributed to a sample of (248) subjects. The statistical package of social science (SPSS. V.16) was used to an analyze the data of the study. The most important findings of this study were the following:

1. The perceptions of governance characteristics and-engineering processes were at medium level .

2. There is an impact of governance characteristics dimensions in engineering processes which explains (38%) of variation in the dependent variable (re-engineering processes).

3. There are significant differences (α ≤ 0.05) in the perceptions of governance characteristics attributed to (academic qualification, age, experience, and Job level) variables.

The study recommends the need to focuses on the governance characteristics, through administrative transparency and management accountability and provide a vision of a clear strategy for to government departments and objectives, because of their impact in enhancing the engineering dimensions of administrative processes.
