Abstract
Emotional Intelligence and its relation to Self-assertiveness within Northern Borders
University male and female at Saudi Arabia Kingdom

This study aimed at investigating the relationship between the emotional intelligence and self-assertiveness within Northern Borders University students at Saudi Arabia Kingdom. To achieve the study goals, a Wakeman Scale of Emotional Intelligence and Rathus Self-assertiveness scale were used and applied on a sample consisted of(623: 162 males; 461 females) students randomly chosen from the Northern Borders University during the academic semester2010/2011.

The results indicated that the level of emotional intelligence was about the moderate, as well as the level of Self-assertiveness was high, the results also indicated that there was apposite relationship between the emotional intelligence and Self-assertiveness, where the emotional intelligence explained about(10.7%) from the total variance in the selfassertiveness.

Furthermore the results indicated that there were no significant differences in the level of emotional intelligence due to gender, but differences were found due to major and study level. In the same time a significant differences were found in the level of self-assertiveness due to study level and gender, but not for major.
