Abstract

The Impact of Job Characteristics in the Decision-Making Effectiveness in Government Departments in the Gurayat Region in Saudi Arabia

the study aimed at recognizing the impact of job characteristics in the decision-making effectiveness in government departments in the Gurayat region in Saudi Arabia. To achieve the aim of the study self administrated questionnaire was used to collect the data. It was developed and distributed to a sample of (590) subjects. The statistical  package of social science (SPSS.16) was used to a analyze the data of the questionnaire,. The most important findings of this study were the following:

1.     The perceptions of job characteristics were at high level, and their perceptions toward the decision-making effectiveness were at medium level  .

2.     There is an impact of job characteristics dimensions in the decision-making effectiveness which explains (63.8%) of deviation in the dependent variable (the decision-making effectiveness).

3.     There are significant differences (α ≤ 0.05)  in the perceptions of job characteristics attributed to (academic qualification, age, experience, and gender) variables, and significant differences exist (α ≤ 0.05) in the perceptions of the decision-making effectiveness attributed to (academic qualification, age, experience, and gender) variables.

The study recommends the need to work on creating an organizational culture that enhance the decision-making effectiveness in the organizational environment, and improve the dimensions to the upper levels desired, through the development of skills of workers and to provide strategic vision and a clear-cut circles and objectives, because of their impact in shaping the characteristics of public office and which have a positive impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of these departments to achieve organizational goals.
